Two at a Time Socks

These are some pictures of two at a time socks. The pictures give the sequence of knitting the socks on two circular needles. I put them up to help a friend who is learning to knit two at a time socks.

These are some very basic two at a time tow-up ribbed socks.  We begin at the toe and end with a cuff. The advantage of the toe up sock is that you can try them on as you go.

In the pictures below, the ribbed section is on the instep, the soles of the socks are plain stockinette.

Step 1: This is the starting position (above). The socks are on two circular needles with the yarn to the left. The needles can be laid out straight. Half of the stitches, consisting of the front/instep of each sock is on one needle. The back/sole/other half of the stitches are on the second needle. The yarn from each pair is facing the same direction.

Step 2: Make sure that you are using the front needle to knit the front part of the sock. The sections you are knitting will remain on the same needles throughout. Knit your first section, which in the photos is the instep of the right sock.

Step 3: Using the same needle, knit the instep of the second sock.

Step 4: Needles are straight again. Looking at the instep or front of the socks, we see the yarn is now on the left. It began on the right in Step 1.
If we flipped the whole thing over as if looking at the sole or bottom of the sock, the yarn would be on the right.

Step 5:
